About Long Rest Ledger
Who writes it, what qualifies and how it is paid for.
Long Rest Ledger started as a shared spreadsheet between three friends who kept asking each other the same question: which online role-playing game is worth starting this autumn? Most reviews are written in the first week, when every game looks generous. We wanted to know what week four looks like.
What we do
Each season we pick six online worlds, play each for at least four weeks and answer the same four questions about every one: what the world is, what a week in it feels like, what money buys and who it suits. Then we give a verdict built from a fixed formula, explained on the method page.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for placement or for a better score.
- We do not review gambling, betting, casino or cash-prize products.
- We do not run accounts, sell gold or offer boosting.
How the site is paid for
Buttons that open a game's official site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, the publisher may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing and does not change our verdicts, which are locked before any link is added.
The illustrations
The pictures at the top of each entry are our own illustrations, made to set the mood of each world. They are not screenshots or official artwork, and we label them as such.
